CLIMAX-FISHER VOLLEYBALL SWEEPS NORTHOME-KELLIHER

The Climax-Fisher Knights Volleyball team hosted the Northome-Kelliher Mustangs on Monday night. Both teams played well, but the Knights were a little better in all three sets, winning 25-20, 25-20, 25-12.

First Set
The Mustangs jumped on the Knights early scoring the first three points of the match and building a 6-2 lead in the process. Climax-Fisher would settle down and rattle off a 7-3 run capped off by a Claire Erickson kill to tie the set at 9-9. The teams traded a few points that resulted in the Mustangs back in front 16-14. Climax-Fisher would then go on another huge 9-1 run to pull in front 23-17 and force Northome-Kelliher to use their last timeout of the set. The run was highlighted by three aces, two from Ella Paulsrud and one from Halle Reitmeier. The Mustangs would fight a little bit to stay alive, but the Knights would finish the set off on a Sophia Nesvig kill to take it by a final score of 25-20.

Second Set
The second set was close right from the beginning with neither team taking a big lead. They would trade two-three points at a time until we got down to the end of the set with the Mustangs in front 19-18. The Knights would get three straight points to pull in front 21-19 thanks in part to a Peyton Hoffman kill, and Lucy Paulsrud ace. The Mustangs would have their chances to win the set, but the Knights would take advantage of some Northome-Kelliher mistakes and win the second set 25-20, finishing it off with yet another Mustangs error. That gave Climax-Fisher the opportunity to wrap things up in the third set.

Third Set
Climax-Fisher started fast in the third set going up 4-1 after a Danika Motl ace. Things continued to get better for the Knights as they got back-to-back aces from Lucy Paulsrud and pulled in front 8-2. They would then score five of the next six points to go in front 13-3 and force a Mustangs timeout. The third set was never very close with Climax-Fisher catching all the breaks and playing great volleyball. A diving save on the back line late in the set by Ella Paulsrud that carried all the way onto the Mustangs side and down for a point summed up the third set for both teams. Climax-Fisher would take care of business winning the third set 25-12 and winning the match in three sets.

Climax-Fisher improves to 9-7 on the year while Northome-Kelliher falls to 6-4.
