The Crookston Pirate Boys and Girls Track & Field teams competed in the Thief River Falls Invite on Tuesday afternoon and had solid showings, including 5 first-place finishes. The Pirates finished fourth place as a team in the Girls division and sixth place in the Boys division. West Marshall won the Girls division while East Grand Forks won the Boys division convincingly.
GIRLS –
The Pirate Girls team was once again led by Breanna Kressin with three first-place finishes. Kressin won the 200 meters with a time of 26.56, won the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.61, and won the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 45.93 which was over three seconds better than the second-place finisher. Her three first-place finishes racked up 30 points for the Pirates.
The Pirates other first-place finish came from Hayden Winjum in the 400 meters with a time of 1:03.80. the time was almost one full second better than her previous run in the event. The Pirates also got a good performance from Cassie Solheim as she placed in the top four in two events. Solheim took third in the Long Jump with a jump of 15-00.00 and took fourth place with a time of 13.74 in the 100 meters. In total Crookston accrued 97 points which was good for a 4th place finish at the meet.
BOYS –
The boys were led by the relay team of Brady Wisk, Tanner Giese, Caden Boike, and Carter Coauette. The group took a first-place finish in the 4X100 meter relay with a time of 47.57. The same four also ran together in the 4X200 meter relay with a time of 1:40.56 which was good for a third-place finish and six points for the team.
Thor Harbott also had a good showing for the Pirates taking second place in the 1600 meters with a time of 5:10.30. Harbott also took third place in the 3200 meters with a run of 11:22.66, which was 23 seconds better than his run in the event last week. In total, the Pirates racked up 40 points as a team which was good for sixth place, one of their best showings as a team all season.
Both Crookston Track teams will be in Ada on Thursday for the Ada/Borup-West meet. All the results from the meet can be found down below.
