The Crookston Clay Target Team completed their third week of competition shooting. The weather was a bit of a challenge, but they did well.
“Our averages went down this week, but they didn’t let that bother them and had quite a showing this weekend at the tournament in DGF. I am hoping that we take the momentum we started on Saturday and keep it going for the rest of the season, especially in the tournaments,” said Coach Randy Prudhomee. “This past week, kids, especially the newer shooters, are really showing improvement in their shooting form and getting on the bird right away. When I talk to them about their shooting form, most of them identify what they did wrong before I say anything. This is great so they can identify and work on the physical aspects they struggle with outside the range by doing drills at home. Our next challenge is the mental aspect. Seeing our teammates crack that perfect 25 or even 50 straight really helps. It shows that even though they are tougher to get and seem impossible to do they still are attainable and anyone can do it.”
There are only two more weeks of competition left. Crookston will compete in Bemidji on Saturday, May 16, for another tournament. The League Championship will be held on June 18th. The Pirates will wrap up the regular season with their family fun night and grill out on May 27th at the Crookston Gun Club.
