The Crookston Fire Department has hired a new firefighter, Josh Steen. Steen officially started with the fire department this week.
Steen, 27, was born and raised in Grand Forks but now resides in East Grand Forks. After graduating from High School, he spent some time working in construction before getting a two-year degree in Fire Technology from Northland Community & Technical College.
Steen describes the part of the job he is looking forward to the most: “I’m excited to work and be part of a new community that I’ve never been a part of before. Crookston, I’ve heard nothing but good things, and I’m just excited to serve the people of the community.”
Steen has only recently started work in Crookston but seems to really like the city’s personability so far: “ I’ve only been here two days, but just going to City Hall and a couple of the stores, everyone seems to know everyone. There are lots of handshakes, and people come up to you and thank you or ask for your name.
