On Tuesday, December 24, at approximately 12:30 pm, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office and the Crookston Fire Department were dispatched to a fire at a residence in Lowell Township. The fire was reported to be in a garage attached to the house.
One person was present at the time of the fire and was uninjured. The fire department contained the fire to the garage, which sustained considerable damage. Smoke damaged the attached house.
The fire is believed to have started in the chimney of a wood-burning stove that was being used at the time to heat the garage.
Crookston Area Ambulance was also assisting at the scene. No further information will be released at this time.
