HALLE NICHOLAS & GRACE FISCHER ADVANCE TO SECTION 8A INDIVIDUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT AS PIRATES TEAM SEASON COMES TO AN END

The Crookston Pirate Girl’s Golf team competed in the Section 8A North Sub-section meet today in Park Rapids.  The top three teams and the top six players not on the top three teams advanced to the Section 8A Golf Tournament next week in Bemidji.

Crookston took fourth place as a team shooting a 429, which was 19 strokes behind the third-place finishing Roseau Rams. The Pirates did advance Halle Nicholas and Grace Fischer however to the Section 8A individual tournament next week.

Halle Nicholas led the way for the Pirates. The 8th grader posted a front nine score of 50 with a par on the 305-yard par-four fifth hole, along with four bogeys, two double bogeys, and two triple bogeys. On the back nine, Nicholas did not record a par but avoided big numbers by carding five bogeys, three double bogeys, and one triple bogey for a back nine score of 50 and total score of 100, which was good to continue her season as she finished in the top six players not on the top three teams and therefore advances on to the Section 8A tournament next week.

Junior Grace Fischer was next for the Pirates posting a solid round that started with a 52 on the front nine. Fischer tallied four bogeys, four double bogeys, and a quadruple bogey before the turn. On the back nine Fischer improved by 3 strokes thanks to a par on the 408-yard par-five fifteenth hole, along with four bogeys, three double bogeys, and a triple bogey, bringing her total score to 101 for the round which was good to continue her season as well as she also finished in the top six players not on the top three teams and therefore advances on to the Section 8A tournament next week.

The Pirates next three scores were all 114 from Morgan Nelson, Ava Martin, and Kaylie Clauson.

Nelson shot a front nine score of 55 and a back nine score of 59. She did not card a par on her round and had four bogeys, five double bogeys, eight triple bogeys, and a quadruple bogey for her 114.

Ava Martin used one par on the 118-yard par-three third hole, to help her shoot a 58 before the turn, and she posted a score of 56 on the back nine earning her a total score of 114.

Kaylie Clauson recorded four bogeys, one double bogey, three triple bogeys, and a quadruple bogey on the front nine for a score of 55 before the turn. On the back nine, Clauson shot a 59 with two bogeys, two double bogeys, four triple bogeys, and a quadruple bogey for a total score of 114.
