CROOKSTON GIRL’S TENNIS FALLS TO OSAKIS AND ALEXANDRIA IN THE ALEXANDRIA QUAD

The Crookston Pirate Girl’s Tennis team lost to Osakis 5-2 and Alexandria 4-3 in the Alexandria Quadrangular. The third Alexandria quadrangular match against Detroit Lakes was canceled because of a rain delay, which is fine with both teams since they just played on Friday.

CROOKSTON VS OSAKIS
The Crookston Pirates won one singles match and one doubles match and lost several close matches. They came up short to a talented Osakis Silverstreak team in a 5-2 loss in the first round of the Alexandria quadrangular.
Paige Abrahamson won her fourth singles match in impressive fashion with a 6-0, 6-2 victory, and the first doubles team of Emma Gunderson and Isabelle Smith had a good battle in a three-set victory. They won the first set 6-4 and lost the second set 6-4. In the third set tie-breaker, the Pirates pulled away for a 10-4 victory for the second victory for the Pirates.
There were several close matches that could have gone either way. At second singles, Kaylie Clauson lost a hard-fought match by a 6-4, 6-4 score. Addie Fee lost a three-set match at third singles as she won the first set 7-5, lost the second set 6-1, and the third set tie-breaker 10-2. The third doubles team of Calleigh Fanfulik and Coral Brekken had a solid match but came up short with a 6-3, 7-5 score.

Crookston falls to 8-3 on the year.

CROOKSTON VS ALEXANDRIA
The Pirates had another tough battle ahead of them against Alexandria. Paige Abrahamson was able to win her second match of the day 6-2, 6-3 in 3rd singles. Coral Brekken was down after the first set, but won a close second set and then won the tiebreaker to get the 4th singles victory 3-6, 7-5, (10-5). Both Brekken Tull and Isabelle Smith would have close battles that each went to tiebreakers, but it was Alexandria that would get the wins in 1st and 2nd singles.
Crookston’s doubles started off the day strong with Addie Fee and Morgan Nelson getting the victory in the 2nd doubles match 6-3, 6-4. Alexandria would take the 3rd doubles match, which included Faith Odland, the daughter of former Pirates, Mitch Odland and Paula (Olson). It would come down to a hard fought 1st doubles match. Emma Gunderson and Kaylie Clauson would win a back and forth first set 9-7, they would fall in the second set 6-1, and Alexandria would win the tiebreaker by a score of 10-7. This gave the Cardinals the 4-3 win, and giving Crookston their second loss of the day.

Crookston falls to 8-4 on the year and head back home to host Moorhead and Theif River Falls for a triangular on Monday.
