Crookston High School Prom is Saturday, April 25

Crookston High School Juniors and Seniors are getting ready to attend this year’s prom celebration on Saturday, April 25, at Crookston High School. The Grand March will be held at 5:30 p.m. (doors open at 5:00), dinner at 6:30, and the dance will run from 8:00 to 11:00 p.m. Admission is $5, with proceeds going toward prom costs.

This year’s theme is Lights, Camera, Prom. “It’s a Hollywood theme. So our colors are black and red. So I got a red carpet going for the grand March and a little bit of gold in there too. We have some cameras for props and some stars,” said Crookston High School Prom Advisor Linda Morgan. “It will be really pretty, but I think every year looks pretty in its own different theme. I always look forward to seeing what it looks like in the gym and then outside in the commons.”

There will be 115 kids attending prom this year, and there has been an uptick in kids not going as a couple and just looking to take in the fun of prom by themselves. “This year is a little bit different, but it’s great. We have girls and boys coming by themselves. And they want to come to prom, which is great. And I think they’ll have so much fun. But it’s a little different, a little more independence,” said Morgan. “They’re all looking forward to it. I sent out emails, and I hear a couple of kids saying they are so excited. So, yeah, it’ll be great to have them all come, and at least they’re coming and having some fun.”

There is a $5 charge to attend the grand march, and admission helps cover the costs of prom. “It’s $5 per person, and it helps with the cost of the prom. And just one of our fundraisers,” said Morgan. “Come and watch the kids. It’s just fun to see. So yeah, so it’s like I said, it’d be lots of fun.”

Drafts Sports Bar and Grill will be doing the food for prom again this year. “I decided to do Drafts again. I know with the AAA banquet, it’s always been the Shanty. So I thought maybe just spread the business a little bit,” said Morgan. “It seems like the kids are always stuck on pasta. And so we’re kind of doing the same menu: pasta with a couple of different sauces, boneless wings with barbecue sauce, a salad, and garlic bread. And then we’re going to go with sundaes this year.”

Crookston High School teacher and Boys Hockey Coach Josh Hardy and his wife Cristin will be serving up the sundaes to the kids. “I asked Josh and Cristin if they could help serve sundaes. And they were all excited about it,” said Morgan. “With 16 seniors on the hockey team this year, I thought it would be kind of cool for them to help serve.”

The dance will start at 8:00 p.m. with the Undertakers back for another year of music. After the dance, the kids will change into their street clothes, board the bus, and head to Northern Air in Grand Forks for the after-prom party.

Crookston’s Prom is this Saturday, April 25. Grand March will start at 5:30 p.m. (doors open at 5:00 p.m.) in the Crookston High School gymnasium. The entry fee is $5. This entry fee is part of the prom fundraiser to help cover the costs of holding prom each year.  Because of that, KROX will NOT be streaming the grand march.
