The Kim Samuelson Scholarship is proud to announce Halle Nicholas of Crookston High School as the 2026 scholarship recipient. This annual scholarship recognizes a young woman who demonstrates academic achievement, leadership, and a strong commitment to community involvement as she pursues a future in business.
Halle Nicholas exemplifies these qualities through her impressive involvement in school and community activities. A dedicated student with a great GPA, Halle has been actively engaged in Student Council, serving as President her senior year, and has contributed her time through the Leo Club, Polk County Public Health Youth Advisory Board, and numerous volunteer efforts throughout the community.
In addition to her service, Halle has demonstrated exceptional leadership in athletics and academics. She has participated in varsity basketball and golf throughout high school, earning all-conference recognition in golf for four consecutive years. She has also been honored as a Student of the Month, selected as a National Honor Society member, and chosen as Crookston High School’s first-ever student representative on the school board.
Halle plans to pursue a degree in business, with an interest in accounting, and hopes to make a meaningful impact in her community through her future career. Her commitment to service and leadership reflects the spirit of this scholarship and the legacy it honors.
The Kim Samuelson Scholarship was established in memory of Kim (Johnson) Samuelson, a Crookston High School graduate from the Class of 1985. Kim was the longtime owner and operator of RBJ’s restaurant, where she spent 35 years building not just a successful business but a lasting impact on the community. Known for her compassion and leadership, Kim provided countless young people with their first job and served as a mentor to many, particularly young women. She instilled values of responsibility, resilience, and self-worth while encouraging others to pursue their goals with confidence. Her influence extended far beyond the workplace, leaving a lasting legacy of service, generosity, and community connection.
This scholarship continues Kim’s commitment to empowering the next generation of women in business by supporting students who demonstrate leadership, academic excellence, and a passion for giving back.
