Crookston Pirate Boys Tennis cruises to a win over Detroit Lakes

The Crookston Pirate Boys Tennis team continued its solid play, beating the Detroit Lakes Lakers 6-1 in a match played at the Crookston High School tennis courts. Crookston is coming off a 5-2 victory over Thief River Falls on Thursday and is 3-1 on the year.

Crookston swept the singles matches, all in straight sets. At first, singles, Reggie Winjum played a solid match as he won the first set 6-3. He kept rolling in the second set for a 6-2 victory to win the match.
Grant Funk continues his mastery at second singles as he was dominant again with a 6-2, 6-2 victory.
At third singles, Gunnar Groven won a hard-fought first set 6-4. Gunnar used the momentum from the first set win into the second set and rolled to a 6-0 victory.
Ean Deleon also continued his fourth singles dominance as he cruised to a 6-1 victory in the first set. The second set was a battle, but Ean came away with a 6-4 victory.
Crookston won two of the doubles matches with the second doubles team of Sawyer Anderson and Colton Osborn dominating in a 6-2, 6-0 victory.
The third doubles team of Jacob Halvorson and Alex Zammert played a solid all-around match to win 6-2, 6-3.
The only loss came at first doubles, where Sam Widseth and Hudson Rick played a great match, but lost the first set 6-4. The second set was even closer as Detroit Lakes won 7-6 to get their only win of the match and Crookston won 6-1.

Crookston improves to 4-1 on the year and is scheduled to play in a triangular in Fergus Falls on Monday, weather permitting.
