CROOKSTON SCHOOL BOARD WILL MEET ON MONDAY TO RECEIVE PRESENTATION ON MIDDLE SCHOOL ADDITION

The Crookston School Board will meet on Monday, February 27, at 5:00 p.m. inside the Crookston High School Choir/Orchestra Room. The meeting is open to the public.

The board will begin the meeting with a presentation by High School Principal Matt Torgerson on an update for the Middle School addition to the school.

The Consent Agenda will include the approval of the minutes of their Special Meetings on January 23 and February 15, and the Regular Meeting on January 23. It will also include approving their current bills in the amount of $175,076.91. The board will then accept the resignation letters of Washington Paraprofessional Danielle Edlund, Highland Paraprofessional Katrina Gonzalez, High School Paraprofessional Jenny Slyt, Band Instructor Caitlin Becks, and School Psychologist Jill Carlson. It will also include approving the employment of Highland Paraprofessional Jessica Wilson, High School Science Instructor Bradley Hubred, and Administrative Assistant Jessica Holzer. The Consent Agenda will also approve the list of coaches for the Spring season, and accept several donations for the school. These include a $1,600 donation from the Ag Country Farm Credit Services for the FFA, $976.82 from the Crookston Baseball Association for the Boys’ Baseball program, $250 from the Crookston Eagles Auxiliary 873 for the student meal debt, $12,910 from the June Shaver Endowment for the CHS Drama Club ($2,973), and the CHS Healthcare Scholarships ($9,937), $2,000 from the Halstad Telephone Company for Student Scholarships, $700 from the Crookston Wrestling Club for the boys’ Wrestling program, $100 from an anonymous source for student meal debt, and $412 from the Methodist and Presbyterian Churches.

The Main Agenda will include reviewing and approving the Safe Learning Plan and the Achievement & Integration Budget. The final item on the agenda will be for the board to discuss the budget and staffing plan for the 2023-24 School Year.

The board will then hear Administrative Reports from Washington School Principal Denice Oliver, Highland Elementary Principal Chris Trostad, and Crookston High School Principal Matt Torgerson about events and progress at their respective schools. Crookston Public Schools Interim Superintendent Dave Kuehn will also give a report about actions and plans for the school district.

The School Board will next take place on Monday, March 27, at 5:00 p.m. at the Crookston High School Choir/Orchestra Room.
