WALSH LEADS GREEN WAVE TO A VICTORY OVER PIRATE SOFTBALL

East Grand Forks Green Wave pitcher Karlee Walsh only allowed one hit while striking out 18 batters to beat the Crookston Pirate Softball team 5-1 in a Section 8AA matchup in East Grand Forks.

FIRST INNING
The first two Crookston batters were retired before Rilynn Aubol walked. The next batter struck out.
East Grand Forks retired in 1-2-3 fashion with a strikeout and two groundouts.

SECOND INNING
Crookston’s Kambelle Freije walked before the next three batters were retired by strikeouts.
The first two East Grand Forks batters, Emma and Ellie Marcott singled. The next batter reached on a fielder’s choice with the Pirates getting an out at third base. The next two batters line out and the game was still scoreless after two innings.

THIRD INNING
The first two Crookston batters struck out before Madi Bruggeman and Aubol walked. The next batter struck out.
East Grand Forks’ first two batters were retired before Anna Kallock singled. The Green Wave’s next batter grounded out.

FOURTH INNING
Crookston was retired in 1-2-3 fashion with two strikeouts and a ground out.
East Grand Forks was retired in 1-2-3 fashion with a line out to the pitcher and two ground outs.

FIFTH INNING –
Crookston’s first batter struck out. The next batter walked before she was thrown out at second, trying to steal. The next batter popped out to the pitcher.
East Grand Forks’s Amiya Julien singled with one out. Elli Dumas reached on a fielder’s choice. After an out, Kallock walked to load the bases with two outs. Karlee Walsh singled in two runs, and another run scored on an error on the Pirate center fielder for a 3-0 lead.

SIXTH INNING –
Crookston responded in the sixth inning when Bruggeman led off with a single up the middle, the first hit of the game for the Pirates. Bruggeman advanced to second and third base on two wild pitches and came into score on an error to bring Crookston within a 3-1 deficit.
East Grand Forks answered in the bottom of the inning when Ellie Marcott and Arynn Thorson singled. Maeve Dolan knocked in a run on a sacrifice fly for a 4-1 lead. Amiya Julien walked, and Elli Dumas knocked in another run with a sacrifice fly to center field for a 5-1 lead.

SEVENTH INNING –
Crookston was retired in 1-2-3 fashion with three strikeouts and East Grand Forks won the game 5-1.

Crookston drops to 2-10 on the year and will travel to Warroad for a doubleheader on Tuesday. East Grand Forks improves to 6-8 on the season.
