DILWORTH-GLYNDON-FELTON ROLLS PAST CROOKSTON PIRATE BOY’S BASKETBALL 83-47

The Crookston Pirate Boy’s Basketball team hung around early, but the Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton Rebels pulled away in the second half and cruised to an 83-47 victory on Monday night.

FIRST HALF –
After an early bucket from the Rebels off the opening tip, the Pirates would take a 4-2 lead on scores from Hunter Nicholas and Tanner Giese. The two teams traded buckets for a bit and after a Caden Boike three, the Rebels were in front 10-9. DGF would start to pull away and go on a 13-0 run that was finally ended by an Isaac Thomforde and one making the score 23-12 with 7:45 remaining in the half. After a couple of more Rebels layups, Crookston’s Jack Everett would knock down a three. DGF would counter with a three of their own and force a Pirates timeout with a 30-15 lead. The Pirates would go to work inside with Hunter Nicholas and Isaac Thomforde, and outscore the Rebels 10-9 for the remainder of the first half, giving DGF a 39-25 lead at the halftime break. Leading the way for Crookston was sophomore Hunter Nicholas with 10 points and 8 rebounds. The Rebels were extremely balanced in the first half having eight different players score and none of them were in double digits.

SECOND HALF –
Hunter Nicholas picked up where he left off from in the second half, scoring the Pirates first four points, But the Rebels Owen Leach who is going to play next year at the University of Minnesota Duluth would score eight straight points for DGF to put them up 49-29 with 14:00 remaining in the game. The Rebels continued to slowly stretch the lead with easy transition buckets and layups inside and forced another Pirates timeout with 11:05 left to play, and the scoreboard reading 58-33. The Rebels continued to slowly build the lead the rest of the game, and it was never closer than twenty-five points the rest of the way. DGF would go on to win the game by a final score of 83-47.

Crookston drops to 4-7 and will be at Climax-Fisher on Thursday night. You’ll be able to hear that game on KROX Radio. Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton improves to 4-2 with the win.
