Duane Fuglie – Obit

Duane Fuglie, age 82, of Ulen, MN died Sunday, December 19, 2021, at Viking Manor Nursing Home, Ulen surrounded by his family.Duane Fuglie

Duane Charles was born June 13, 1939, the son of Henry and Alice (Wiger) Fuglie. He was born and raised west of Ulen. Duane attended Ulen public school, graduating with the class of 1957. He was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

Duane worked for a variety of farmers, worked on the iron range, and American Crystal Sugar, then started his lifelong dream of farming in 1964.

He was united in marriage to Kathryn Wagner on June 10, 1961, at Calvary Lutheran Church. The couple made their home near Ulen where they farmed. After retirement, Duane and Kathryn enjoyed traveling, spending their winters in Texas, and spending time with friends and family. Duane was active in the Ulen Lions, on the elevator board, church council, and Ulen township clerk.

Duane is survived by his wife of 60 years, Kathryn; sons Delmon (Ann) of Watertown, SD, John of West Fargo, ND, Scott (Chris) of Ulen, Mark (Tammy) of Spicer, MN; Grandchildren, Brady (Kayla) Fuglie, Ben Fuglie, Allan (Jennifer) Fuglie, Charles Fuglie, Amber (Dylan) Eckert; Great-grandchildren Carson Fuglie, Sophie Fuglie, Agda Fuglie, Ingrid Fuglie, Lilly Claussen (daughter of Emily Fuglie), Sarah Eckert, and Lucas Eckert.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and brothers: Maynard, Allan (Genella), and Henry Jr.; grandchildren, Jake Fuglie (son of Delmon) and Emily Fuglie (daughter of Mark & Tammy); and nephews, Richard Fuglie and Dwight Fuglie, and many extended family.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 23, 2021, at Maranatha Lutheran Church, Ulen. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be held in Calvary Lutheran Cemetery, Ulen, following the service.

For those in attendance, a mask is strongly encouraged.
