FISCHER, NICHOLAS, AND FISCHER COMPETE IN DAY 1 OF SECTION 8A GOLF TOURNAMENT

Three Crookston Pirate Golfers, Garrett Fischer, Halle Nicholas, and Grace Fischer are competing in the Section 8A Golf Tournament at the Bemidji Town and Country Club on the north shore of Lake Bemidji.  Grace Fischer (a junior) is in 14th place and currently four strokes back from a trip to state, Garrett Fischer is currently in 32nd place after shooting a 93 in his first round at the section tournament, and Halle Nicholas is currently in a tie for 37th place after shooting a 107.

The team story, team and top individual scores, pictures, and interviews with the Pirate coaches are below –

GIRLS-
Grace Fischer, a junior, had a terrific first 11 holes.  Grace started on the ninth hole and in her first 11 holes she had five pars, three bogies, and three double bogies.  On the third hole (12th overall) she got into some trouble and turned in a 10 and on the next hole had a double bogey for a seven.  She would settle down the rest of the way with a par, two double bogies, a birdie on the par-four eighth hole after a beautiful chip within a foot of the hole, and she finished with a bogey.  She had a 44 on the first nine and a 49 on the second nine holes for a 93.

Halle Nicholas, an eighth-grader, making her first Section 8A tournament appearance struggled with the putter a bit and shot a 107.  On her first nine holes, she had a solid round with one par, two bogies, four double bogies, and two triple bogies for a 52.  On the second nine, she had one par and the putter was causing some problems not only for Halle but all the golfers as she turned in two bogies, two double bogies, three triple bogies, and a quadruple bogey for a 55 and a round total of 107.
