Fred Landman, Jr. 75 of Red Lake Falls, MN, passed away on Friday, June 3, 2022, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 13, 2022, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls, MN with Reverend Jeffrey Lytle officiating. Burial will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery in Red Lake Falls, MN.
A Visitation will take place from 4 – 6 PM with a prayer service at 6:00 PM on Sunday, June 12, 2022, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls, MN, and also one hour prior to the service on Monday.
Frederick Landman, Jr. was born November 1, 1946, in Thief River Falls, MN the son of Fred Sr. and Mable (Iverson) Landman. He was baptized at Mercy Hospital in Thief River Falls, MN, and was confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls, MN.
Fred attended grade school in St. Hilaire, MN, and graduated from Lafayette High School in Red Lake Falls, MN in 1966.
On July 5, 1969, Fred was united in marriage to Janice Cardinal at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls, MN.
Fred was a Golden Glove Boxing Champion two years in a row. He had a record of 46-1 and boxed in Madison Square Gardens.
Fred worked at Silo Company in Red Lake Falls, MN, at Detroiters, constructions in Juneau, Alaska, Marvin Windows in Warroad, MN, and Vigen Construction in East Grand Forks before retiring in 2014.
Fred loved spending time with his children and watching his grandchildren. He enjoyed sports activities especially baseball, softball, and football. His favorite teams were the Minnesota Twins and the Vikings. He also enjoyed camping and doing bonfires, and keeping a well-manicured lawn. His favorite pastime was talking sports with his son, grandchildren, and everyone he met.
Survivors include Janice (Cardinal) Landman; Children Melissa (Mark) Larson of Red Lake Falls, MN, Fred (Tandra) Landman III of Red Lake Falls, MN; Grandchildren Kyle (fiance Kayla Noriega) of Loveland, CO, Cole (Rachelle) Larson, Kurt Larson, Shawna Larson all of Red Lake Falls, MN, Zack Landman of Alexandria, MN, Kelsey (special friend John LaCoursiere) Landman and Freddy Landman IV all of Red Lake Falls, MN; great-grandchildren Bryson, Piper, Raife, and Memphis; brothers Bill, Ralph (Carla); sister Lorraine Benoit; in-laws Bucky Wright, Roger (Sally) Cardinal, David Cardinal, Dean (Sandy Derosier) Cardinal, Jay (Carla) Cardinal and many nieces and nephews.
Fred is preceded in death by his daughter Mary Ann Landman; father Fred Landman, Sr.; mother Mable (Iverson) Landman; sisters Betty (Ron) Osmondson and Marie Landman; father-in-law Elmer “PeeWee” Cardinal; mother-in-law Theresa Cardinal; sisters-in-law Joyce Wright, Karen (Jerry) Audette, Linda (Jim) Tvedt.
