GEIST FINISHES 6TH AT D3 NATIONALS, BOROWICZ ON NATIONAL CHAMPION D2 TRACK TEAM

It was a big weekend for two Crookston High School graduates who are competing in Track and Field in college.  Katherine Geist, a sophomore, at Carleton College finished sixth place in the one mile run in the NCAA Division III Track and Field National Championships, and Emma Borowicz was an alternate on the 12th place 4X400 relay team and member of Division II Track and Field National Champion Minnesota State Mankato Track and Field team.

Katherine Geist (So./Crookston) claimed All-American status she placed sixth in the finals of the mile run at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday.  Geist finished in 4:56.78 to set a new personal best. Ella Baran of Johns Hopkins won the event with a time of 4:47.97. This is the first All-America Award for Geist.

Emma Borowicz (Fresh. Crookston) is a member of the Minnesota State Mankato Women’s Track team that finished first to give Mankato its first-ever National Track and Field National Champion after finishing second place last year.
