GRACE FISCHER IN 72ND PLACE AFTER DAY 1 OF STATE GOLF TOURNAMENT

Crookston Pirate Junior Grace Fischer competed on Day 1 of the Class AA State Tournament today at the Ridges at Sand Creek Golf Course in Jordan. Conditions were tough as it was extremely hot and windy and the round took almost 6 hours to complete. Fischer carded a 105 on the day, putting her in 72nd place heading into the final day of the competition tomorrow. Lake City leads the team competition after Day 1 with a score of 330, and Mallory Belka of Perham is in 1st place individually shooting a +4 76.

FRONT NINE –
Fischer started her round on the front nine and got off to a rocky start recording a triple bogey on the par-five 430-yard first hole. She improved on the 308-yard par-four second hole with a double bogey, and followed that with a bogey on the 101-yard par-three third hole. Fischer would then double bogey holes 4 & 5 before picking up her first par in the round on the 323-yard par-four sixth hole.  She would end her front nine with three double bogeys for a 52 before the turn.

BACK NINE –
Fischer started off the back nine with two bogeys on the 461-yard par-five tenth hole, and the 125-yard par-three eleventh hole. From there Fischer would card a double bogey on hole 12 before turning in a 9 on the par-four 339-yard thirteenth hole. Fischer would recover from there for a bogey on hole 14 and then end her round with three double bogeys and a bogey for a 53 on the back nine, and a total score of 105 on the day. The 105 puts her in 73rd place after Day 1 in a field of 88 individuals competing in the Class AA State Tournament.

The Class AA State Golf Tournament will conclude tomorrow on day 2 from Jordan. Below are all the results from Day 1.
