GRAND FORKS FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDS APARTMENT FIRE ON 36TH AVE SOUTH

At approximately 6:44 p.m. yesterday evening, Grand Forks Fire Department was dispatched to 910 36th Ave South for smoke in an apartment with flames. First arriving crews found that a bathroom fan had malfunctioned, overheated, and started a small fire in the ceiling area. The tenant was home at the time and, with her quick action, used a fire extinguisher to extinguish the flames. Damage was minimal. No residents of the apartment complex were displaced.

GFFD initially responded with 19 personnel consisting of a command vehicle, five engines, and one aerial device.

GFFD was assisted by Altru Ambulance and Grand Forks Police Department.

GFFD would like to remind all residents to have working smoke detectors on every level of your home and a fire extinguisher.
