GRAND FORKS FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDS TO FIRE AT QUALITY INN HOTEL ON SATURDAY MORNING

At approximately 7:45 a.m. on Saturday, February 12, the Grand Forks Fire Department was dispatched to the Quality Inn in Grand Forks located at 3251 30th Avenue South, for a general fire alarm activation. While responding to the scene, on-site facility personnel reported a fire in room 111.

Fire crews arrived on the scene to find the building being evacuated. They located and extinguished a fire in the bathroom of room 111. The entire building was evacuated, all occupants were accounted for and uninjured. Crews cleared the smoke from the building and ensured that the fire was completely extinguished. The bathroom area sustained significant fire damage with smoke damage throughout the unit. The hotel was allowed to continue operations and guests were allowed back into rooms that were unaffected by 10:00 am.

The Grand Forks Fire Department responded with five engines, one truck, and one command vehicle with seventeen personnel. There were no injuries to the public or fire service personnel and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation. The Fire Department was assisted by the Grand Forks Police Department, Altru Ambulance, and the Quality Inn staff.
