Grand Forks police are investigating a shots-fired incident that took place Tuesday night

On Tuesday, August 25, at approximately 10:16 pm, officers with the Grand Forks Police Department responded to 1706 Continental Dr for the report of three gunshots in the area.  When they arrived, they made contact with the male who admitted to firing the gun. The gun was seized, and the involved parties were interviewed.

The male disclosed that there had been a physical altercation on scene involving several other people, and that he had discharged his handgun into the air in an attempt to break up the fight.  The firearm was not pointed at anyone, was not used to directly threaten anyone, and it was only fired into the air.  Other witnesses at the scene corroborated this, so no arrest was made at this time.

This investigation is still ongoing to determine which, if any, charges are appropriate due to circumstances at the time of the call. As it is still ongoing, the suspect’s identity won’t be disclosed at this time.

At this time, there have been no reported injuries in relation to this part of the call, and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
