GRAND FORKS POLICE DEPARTMENT RESPONDS TO HOMICIDE

The deceased male victim in this incident is identified as 24-year-old Grand Forks resident Anfernee Economy. The male suspect, a 17-year-old Grand Forks resident, will not be identified at this time due to being a juvenile.
The suspect is in custody and has been charged with AA Felony Murder, which is punishable by up to life in prison without parole.

ORIGINAL STORY-
On Thursday, March 7, at approximately 3:02 a.m. Officers of the Grand Forks Police Department were dispatched to the 1700 block of 36th Ave. South for a report of a physical disturbance outside the building.

Arriving officers located a male subject lying on the ground with an apparent stab wound to his upper torso. Initial investigation revealed that two groups of people engaged in a physical fight after an argument, and a male was stabbed. At this time, it is believed the involved parties were known to each other. The male victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. The victim’s identity is not being released at this time, pending next of kin notification. A juvenile male suspect in this matter has been identified and is in custody.

Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Bureau responded to assist in the investigation. Altru Paramedics, the Grand Forks Fire Department, and the Grand Forks County Sheriff’s Office also assisted on this incident.
