HIGHLAND SCHOOL PTO SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE IS UNDERWAY

The Highland School PTO is holding its annual School Supply Drive to help students start school with the supplies they need.

“Every August, we usually host the supply drive. We are just trying to get supplies put together for the kids who might not be able to purchase them themselves and for families that need a little help with that,” said Highland School PTO member Lori Capistran. We also like to help the teachers out because I feel like they are the ones seeing the needs and buying stuff for kids, and we are trying to fill the gap a little bit as we can.”

Capistran said any school supplies are helpful. “I think the dry-erase markers are the ones we run out of first. But, we will take anything whether it is notebooks, markers, crayons, scissors, folders, the paper you put into the binders, any of that is all helpful.”

Other supplies they could use are glue, pencils, highlighters, rulers, post-it notes, index cards, notebooks (wide-ruled), binders, filler paper, hand sanitizer, kleenex, and ziplock bags.

Drop off supplies at Back-to-School Registration Day on Thursday,  August 15, at the Crookston High School, at Meet-the-Teacher Days on August 28 and September 3 at Highland School, or at Highland School before classes start on Wednesday, September 4.  Collection boxes are located at the school office.

“If you don’t know what to buy or don’t feel like going shopping, but you still want to help, we are always willing to go shopping for you,” said Capistran. “If you want to make a donation of some kind, you can write it out to Highland School PTO and drop it off at the office or mail it to the office, and we will be very happy to go shopping for supplies we are still missing.”

Again, monetary donations can be sent to:

801 Central Ave N
Crookston, MN.

If you have any questions, call the Highland School Office at 281-5600.
