It’s that time of year! New teachers, kids back to school, and it is soon time for 4th graders to begin Orchestra and 5th graders to begin Band!
Join orchestra teacher Lori Carlson and band teacher Zach Lunde at the Highland Band and Orchestra Orientation Night at Highland Elementary School on Monday, September 14. 4th-grade orchestra students and parents will meet at 6:00 p.m., and 5th-grade band students and parents will meet at 7:00 p.m.
Carlson and Lunde will visit the classrooms during the first week of school to demonstrate the instruments and send sign-up forms home with students.
Put the orientation date on your calendars if you have a child in one of these grades. They will be able to get sized for string instruments, sign instrument agreements, and parents can meet the teachers that night!
Learning an instrument gives students the joy of making music, builds confidence through new challenges, creates a sense of belonging in an ensemble, and develops a skill they can enjoy for a lifetime.
Anyone with questions can call 281-218-2144 or email Carlson at loricarlson@isd593.org and Lunde at zacharylunde@isd593.org.
