RiverView Health’s Senior Life Solutions (SLS) program is pleased to welcome Jessica Salinas, LGSW, to its team.
Salinas is looking forward to helping individuals improve their emotional well-being through in-person counseling services at the SLS location on RiverView’s Crookston campus. She will provide one-on-one counseling and group therapy sessions, as well as telehealth appointments for those who prefer remote care.
RiverView’s Senior Life Solutions program offers outpatient mental health services tailored to the unique needs of older adults, typically those age 65 and older. The program helps participants develop coping and communication skills to support better mental health and overall quality of life. In addition to individual and group therapy, services include psychiatric evaluation and medication management. The dedicated SLS team is committed to supporting the emotional health and wellness of older adults throughout the region.
Salinas earned her Master of Social Work degree from the University of North Dakota and is grateful for the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in others’ lives.
“I am interested in nature-inspired healing and modalities that look at the mind, body, and spirit as one cohesive system,’’ she shared.
Her path to social work began shortly after high school while working as a special education paraprofessional, where she discovered a passion for helping others navigate life’s challenges.
“Working alongside the social work and counseling team while I was a special education paraprofessional in a primarily Native American school inspired me to pursue the field,’’ Salinas stated. “Going on my own personal inner-healing journey increased the desire for me to work in the clinical field of social work.’’
Throughout her career, Salinas has gained experience in a variety of settings, including work with Red River Valley Community Action and the Grand Forks school district, as well as serving as a case manager for children in the foster care system. Those experiences have helped shape her compassionate approach to care.
A native of Tolna, ND, Salinas now lives in Fisher with her husband, their four children, ages 1, 2, 9, and 10, and three cats. When she’s not working, she enjoys traveling, hiking, reading, spending time with family, walking, engaging in deep conversations, and practicing meditation and contemplation.
Now beginning her next chapter with Senior Life Solutions, Salinas is eager to join the RiverView team and the community it serves.
