John Robert Chambers – Obit

John Robert Chambers, 57, of Crookston, MN, died Tuesday, February 21, 2023, in Crookston.

John was born in Tacoma, WA on October 13, 1965, the son of James Lee and Deloris Elaine (Goulet) Chambers. While growing up John moved with his family to St. Paul, MN and then to Georgia. In 1986 he enlisted in the US Army and served as a Heavy Wheel Mechanic specialist at Ft. Polk, LA until his honorable discharge. He later settled in Crookston where he met Julie Miller. On October 2, 2015, John and Julie were united in a Traditional Native American Wedding Ceremony in Ogilvie, MN. They were the very proud parents of their son, James Robert.

John was a very hard worker and at different times over the last several years had been employed by Crookston’s American Crystal Sugar Company during the fall harvests, then for Wagner Landscaping of Fisher, MN, and more recently with D & B Construction at Mentor, MN. Since the summer of 2022 and to the present time John had been doing bus assembly work for New Flyer of America in Crookston.

John enjoyed going fishing and playing pool. He loved his family dearly, and his son, James, was the most important person in his life.

John is survived by his soul mate and life partner, Julie Miller; their son, James Robert (age 9), a 3rd grader at Highland Middle School; 3 sisters: Sheila DeLong and Karen Chambers of Crookston, and Lynn Jackson of Hertfordshire, England; several aunts and uncles: Donna Gonsolley, Dorothy Schell, Judy Cook, and Butch, Rodney, Lloyd, Gerald, Marvin, and Marlin Goulet; 16 nieces and nephews: Germaine (Jerika), Cherise, Bruce, Jaboe, Lil Charles, Ciara, Jordan, Jasmine, Jaleesa, Zandy, Miss Aaliyah, Joey, Ambur, Jayme, Carley, and Reese; as well as other family, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Deloris Chambers; sister, Rhonda Brewster; and aunts and uncles: Ramona Hoffman, Louise LaChapelle, Mearl, Audrey, Andrey, and Louis Goulet. John will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by all were a part of his life.

A memorial service celebrating the life of James Chambers will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 8, 2023, in the Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home, Crookston with visitation for one hour prior to the service.
