LeAnne Juve Velline – OBIT

LeAnne Juve Velline passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, in Fargo, ND at the age of 78. LeAnne was born on February 21, 1948, to Leland and Betty (Carlson) Juve in Fosston, MN.

LeAnne was gifted with many talents starting as a child and throughout her life. She sang in church with her family, duets with her brother David as the Red River Valley Warblers singing folk songs and many solos. LeAnne belonged to FH, FHA, band (playing the flute), choir, a thespian (plays included the Heiress and The Lost Flight). LeAnne also played the piano and twirled the baton (winning many twirling contests). She was a volunteer candy striper at Bethesda Hospital.

LeAnne was Miss Crookston in 1965 being the youngest at the time at age 17. Her talent was singing “I Feel Pretty” from the musical, West Side Story. She attended the Miss Minnesota contest in Austin, MN. She had a wonderful year representing Crookston.

After high school LeAnne worked various jobs before she became ill.

LeAnne married William (Bill) Velline on August 28, 1979, at First Lutheran Church in Fargo, ND. She became a step-mother to Bill’s children Christene and Matt. Sadly, Bill died in 1997. LeAnne then moved to Jamestown where she loved playing piano for church services at her group home. LeAnne enjoyed playing and singing her hymns.

LeAnne is preceded in death by her father, Leland (1996); her husband, Bill (1997); and one step-grandchild Dan.

She is survived by her mother, Betty Juve of Crookston, MN; her stepchildren, Christene (Steve) Bartels of Fisher, MN, Matthew (Julie) Velline of Port Charlotte, FL; four step-grandchildren, Luc, Mariah, Vanessa, and Will; six great step-grandchildren; her brother, David (Mona) of Barnesville, MN; sister, Rebecca (Terry) Peterson of Moorhead, MN; and special family member Debbie (Dave) Brager of Moorhead, MN. She is also survived by two nephews, Justin Menard and James (Angie) Peterson, and four nieces, Suzanne (Travis) Solheim, Gretel (Bobby) Valdez, Lindsay (Paul) Mauer, Brittany (Derek) Juve; great nephews and nieces, Robert, Dillon, Jordan, Ashanti, Brenden, Christian, Charlotte, Maxwell, and Vivienne. Also, five great-great nieces and nephews.

A special thank you to all the workers at SMP Health St. Mary’s South in Fargo, ND and her guardian, Sheri Rosenau of Jamestown, ND, for taking such wonderful care of LeAnne for the past five years.

A service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Crookston, MN on Friday, July 31, 2026, at 11:00am with visitation one-hour prior to the service. The service will be livestreamed, a link to which will be available at www.stenshoelhouske.com/obituaries/leanne-velline
