Lorraine Schmidt – Obit

Lorraine Schmidt, 86, of Red Lake Falls, MN passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 5, 2021, at the Villa St. Vincent in Crookston, MN with her loving family by her side.

Public visitation will be from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 9, 2021, at Johnson Funeral Service in Red Lake Falls, MN. Private family service will follow at 2:15 PM. Public Graveside Service will be at 3:00 PM at St. Joseph Cemetery, Red Lake Falls. Please wear your mask and practice social distancing.Lorraine Schmidt

Lorraine Bernadette Sauve was born March 28, 1934, in Crookston, MN the daughter of Oscar and Paulmire (Sauve) Sauve. She was baptized at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Gentilly, MN. She attended country school until the 8th grade.

On August 10, 1954, Lorraine was united in marriage to Raymond Schmidt at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, MN. They settled in Red Lake Falls where they raised their family. Raymond died on August 13, 1982.

Lorraine worked at Hillcrest Nursing Home from February of 1969 until her retirement in September of 2004. She started out working in the kitchen and moved to housekeeping where she worked until she retired at the age of 71.

On June 9, 1990, Lorraine was united in marriage to Chester “Chet” Brown at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls. They continued to reside in Red Lake Falls. Over the years they enjoyed traveling together throughout the United States, doing yard work, sitting in their front porch, and taking care of their dog, Boots. Chet died on October 1, 2000.

Lorraine also enjoyed working in her flower gardens, feeding the birds, sewing, and especially enjoyed cooking for her family, family gatherings, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Lorraine was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, Catholic Daughters, and the  VFW Auxiliary. She loved to volunteer at different places in the community including Sunview Center, Hillcrest Nursing Home, and St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Survivors include her children, Dean (DeeAnn) Schmidt of Crookston, MN, Peggy (Richard) Wosick of Oslo, MN and Tim Schmidt of Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Melissa Schmidt, David Schmidt, Michelle (Jake) Alexander, Melinda (Tim) Helseth, Nathan Hooser, Kramer Schmidt, Dylan Schmidt; great-grandchildren, RaeAnn, Norah, Jude, Averie, Hannah, Gwen; brother, Jerry (Marlene) Sauve; and many other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; husband, Chester; twin infant sons; son, Daniel; grandson, Nathan Schmidt; great-granddaughter, Kaia Mae Alexander; siblings, Agnes, Alfred, infant twin girls, Edmund, Mary Jane, George, Harvey, Omer, Bert, Eli, Pete, Sam, Jim and Micky.
