Marilynn (Ellingworth) Krsnak – Obit

Marilynn (Ellingworth) Krsnak, Moorhead, MN, formerly of Hendrum, MN, enjoyed a long, full life of 82 years. Her will to live was amazing and her strength was inspiring throughout all the health issues she endured in life. On October 18th, 2022, she passed away peacefully under the care of hospice at Eventide in Moorhead. Her family was with her to provide the beautiful send-off she truly deserved.

Her life began on August 30th, 1940, in Hegne Township, MN. She was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Ada, and she married the love of her life, Don Krsnak, there on November 30, 1958. They made their home in Hendrum.

Always known for her kindness, thoughtfulness, and warmth, Marilynn lived a dedicated life as a wife, mother, grandmother, homemaker, and church secretary.

Her family is her legacy, and she is survived by her adoring children Jody Kragness of Fargo, Todd Krsnak of Las Vegas, NV, Jana (Dan) Britton of Branson, MO, and Rodd Krsnak of Moorhead; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren with 3 more on the way; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by Don, her husband of 61 years; parents Jesse and Clara (Hovland) Ellingworth; and her 8 siblings.

Marilynn and Don enjoyed going on bus trips to Myrtle Beach, SC, Nashville, TN, and the Grand Ole Opry. They also loved visiting Mackinac Island, MI, Medora, ND, Branson MO, and Las Vegas, NV; watching the Twins, Vikings, and Timberwolves play in the Cities; and attending the boisterous “Kriswald” family reunions every year.

Beyond being a loving wife, mother, and doting grandmother, she was an avid bowler, had a special knack for big wins playing the slots, and made exceptional potato dumplings. She also enjoyed camping at the lakes with her husband; playing cards with family and friends; proudly supporting her grandchildren in their school activities; attending events with the Red Hat Ladies; watching Minnesota’s sports teams on TV even when they lost; and making her grandchildren endlessly happy – Christmas at Grandma’s was simply the best.

In the words of one of her granddaughters, Ali:

Grandma has left us with a beautiful legacy, her very life revealing itself in each one of us, through our eyes, our smiles, our laughter, and it is through these small details, she will always live on through each of us. Even though grief is present we can celebrate and rejoice our mom and Grandma being embraced by Jesus, she is free from physical limitations, free from pain, free from grief this world often brings. She’s been welcomed into the kingdom of heaven, a beautiful homecoming, and we truly believe her life has really just begun.
