Michael E. Klawitter

Michael E. Klawitter Michael E. Klawitterwas called home to his Lord on February 8, 2020.  Michael was the second child born to Elroy and Alvina (Kutter) Klawitter on June 11, 1952, in Breckenridge, MN. He was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church in July of 1952 and confirmed on May 29, 1966. He spent his elementary school years at Immanuel Lutheran Church School and graduated from Hankinson Public school in 1970.

After graduation, he attended North Dakota State College of Science until he joined the Navy in early 1971. Once discharged, he lived and worked in Ohio for several years where he developed his interest in draft horses. He eventually moved back to North Dakota and on May 29, 1982, he was married to Mary Pat Schwan.  The couple lived in Hankinson for a few years until Mike decided to finish his college degree in dairy science in Crookston, MN.  They settled on a farm near the town of Euclid, MN where they raised their children.

Mike enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life including farming, gardening, hunting, fishing, trapping, camping and caring for his draft horses and honey bees.

Mike is survived by his wife, Mary Pat, children and grandchildren, Christopher and Sarah Klawitter (Jacob, Kaitlynn, and Landon) Sara and Chad Schwartz (Cole, Kaleb, Karl, and Wyatt), Luke and Holly Klawitter (William, Zane, and Paul) and Matthew Klawitter and fiance Michelle Collins, father-in-law and mother-in-law Simon and Patricia Schwan, sister Lynn (Alvin) Witt.

He was preceded in death by his parents Elroy and Alvina and his brother Brian.

The funeral will be held Tuesday, February 11 at 11:00 AM at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hankinson, ND with visitation from 10 to 11.
