MOORHEAD AND DULUTH 12U TEAMS ADVANCE TO STATE/CROOKSTON SQUIRT A’S WIN DISTRICT

Moorhead won the 12U Girl’s Hockey Regional held this past weekend at the Crookston Sports Center.
The Moorhead team defeated Roseau 3-2 for the number one spot, while Duluth came back and defeated Roseau 4-1 in a true second game to send both Moorhead and Duluth to the Minnesota State 12U Girl’s Hockey Tournament.
The Crookston 12U team lost to eventual champion Moorhead 5-4 in their first game. Crookston came back to beat Grand Rapids 4-1, but Saturday night was eliminated by Duluth 3-2 with Duluth scoring a short-handed goal late in the third period for a comeback win.
Other teams completing the eight-team tourney were Warroad, Alexandria and Brainerd-Little Falls.

The Crookston Squirt A’s Boy’s Hockey team won their District Tournament in Baudette this weekend. Crookston was the number four seed and beat Roseau 10-6 in their first game. After they beat Lake of the Woods, the number one seed in a semi-final game 4-2, the Crookston Squirts defeated Bemidji 8-5 for the Championship. There is no advancement beyond Districts for this age group which is 4th and 5th graders.
