At approximately 12:20 a.m. on Monday, August 10th, the Grand Forks Fire Department was dispatched to 720 Cottonwood Street for a report of a structure fire. Fire personnel arrived on scene and encountered a significant fire and smoke showing from the exterior of the home; the fire spread to the interior as well.
Fire crews worked extensively to fully extinguish the fire. Fire personnel remain on scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The Grand Forks Fire Department responded with 4 Engines, 1 Truck, 1 Heavy Rescue, and a Command vehicle, totaling 18 personnel. The occupants of the home have been displaced and relocated. There were no injuries to occupants or fire service personnel on scene.
The Grand Forks Fire Department was assisted on scene by the Grand Forks Police Department, Altru Ambulance, and Xcel Energy. The Grand Forks Fire Department would like to remind residents to keep their smoke detectors working.
