NORTHERN FREEZE COASTS TO A VICTORY OVER WEST MARSHALL

The Northern Freeze took advantage of 15 walks and hit batters as they cruised to 16-1 victory over the West Marshall Fusion in a Section 8A softball game played in Warren.

First Inning-
Northern Freeze’s Brooklyn Dahle reached on an infield single, stole second base, and advanced to third base on a wild pitch. She came into score on another wild pitch for a 1-0 lead.
West Marshall was retired in 1-2-3 fashion in the bottom of the inning.

Second Inning-
Northern Freeze got things going right away in the second inning when Jocelyn Lee singled, advanced to second on an error, moved to third on a wild pitch, and scored on another wild pitch for a 2-0 lead. Addy Prestagard walked, Katie Clark singled, and Faith Efta was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Brooklyn Dahle walked to score a run, Reese walked to score a run, and Pearson singled to score two runs for a 6-0 lead.
West Marshall’s Olivia Winge reached on an error to start the inning, and Katie Groven singled. The next batter reached on a fielder’s choice that retired Groven, and the next two batters struck out.

Third Inning-
Northern Freeze was retired in 1-2-3 fashion. West Marshall’s Charlotte Rogus reached on an error, but was retired on a double play. Chandler Stroble singled and scored on a triple by Taylor Wentz to bring the Fusion within a 6-1 deficit.

Fourth Inning-
Northern Freeze was retired in 1-2-3 fashion. West Marshall’s Katie Groven led off the bottom of the inning with a single. After an out, Hannah Stroble was hit by a pitch. The next two batters were retired and Northern Freeze had a 6-1 lead.

Fifth Inning-
Northern Freeze’s Reese walked, stole second base, and advanced to third on a wild pitch. After a strikeout, Augustine walked and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Jocelyn Lee grounded out to second base, and a run scored for a 7-1 lead.
West Marshall was retired in 1-2-3 fashion in the bottom of the inning.

Sixth inning – 
Northern Freeze took advantage of West Marshall’s control problems as eight batters were hit by a pitch or walked. Combined with a single and two errors, the Freeze batted 15 in the inning and scored nine runs for a 16-1 lead.
In the bottom of the inning, West Marshall’s Olivia Winge reached on an error and scored on a Katie Groven single to get within a 16-2 deficit. The next three batters were retired and Northern Freeze won the game 16-2.
