OX CART DAYS MOVES TO THE DOWNTOWN SQUARE FOR ALL OF ITS EVENTS ON THURSDAY

Crookston Ox Cart Days is back with the theme “Lots To Do In ’22!” and true to its name, there are many events to do throughout Crookston next week. For each day of this week leading up to the Ox Cart Days, we will have the events scheduled on each day of Ox Cart Days.

The fourth day of Ox Cart Days moves to the Downtown Square in Crookston for a multitude of events. It begins with two all-day events, with the Kids Lemonade Stand competition continuing for the fourth consecutive day and the Food Truck Fest starting at 11:00 a.m. Which will have seven food trucks parked around the square selling food to anyone looking for a meal. Before any of the main events in the afternoon, the Grand Theatre will hold a special deal for their matinee movies at 1:00 p.m., selling tickets for only $1.

The day fully kicks off at 4:00 p.m. in the Downtown Square with many events and activities. “Thursday’s when everything starts happening at the Downtown Square. We’ve got the bounce houses starting at 4:00, airboat rides will be going on at the river in Central Park, there will be axe throwing, the Ribfest Fundraiser by the Crookston Lions Club at 5:00 p.m., and Fandazzi Fire is coming for street shows at 5:45 and 7:15 p.m.,” said Ox Cart Days Director Libby Boucher. “They hold a bunch of Guinness World Records for fire things, including an 8-foot-long bullwhip that they set on fire, which I’m so excited about.” Other events happening at the Downtown Square include the Misting Station, the Bible Baptist Neighborhood Get-Together and Dunk Tank, Beer Gardens by the Irishman’s Shanty and Drafts Sports Bar & Grill, and a performance by the Valley Fiddlers at 4:30 p.m.

Events will also be going on for the day outside of the Downtown Square, such as the Kids Tractor Pull on East 2nd Street and Ash Street at 5:00 p.m. and a Wine Tasting at the Crookston Inn and Convention Center from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. “Thursday rounds out with the Lip Sync Contest at the Downtown Square Stage at 8:00 p.m. and Comedy Night with John DeBoer at the Crookston Inn at 8:30 p.m. with a $10 cover charge for there,” said Libby Boucher.

To get a button or a pocket schedule for Ox Cart Days, they can be picked up at Hugo’s Family Marketplace, Happy Joe’s Pizza & Ice Cream, Crookston City Hall, the Erickson Embroidery, and Crookston True Value. The Ox Cart Days committee is also looking for volunteers to assist with some events throughout the week in two-hour increments. To see the full schedule of Crookston Ox Cart Days, as well as any registration links for events or maps to find some events or sign up to volunteer for an event, you can find them all at www.crookstonoxcartdays.com. “Everything’s on the website, all the links, and maps you need, our contact information, and event signups are on there. We do need volunteers. On the website, there’s a button that says “Volunteer Here,” and it’ll take you to a schedule that’ll be broken down into two-hour chunks,” Boucher explains, “We really need them. That’s the only thing I’m really worried about right now, so that’s what we’re going to push.”
