The Crookston Pirate Boys Tennis team beat the East Grand Forks Green Wave 5-2 in a dual at East Grand Forks on a warm and sunny Thursday afternoon.
Crookston won all three doubles matches and won two of the four singles matches.
SINGLES –
Isaac Thomforde continues to pick up wins at first singles as he cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 victory. Reggie Winjum also continued his winning ways with a 6-3, 6-1 victory at second singles. East Grand Forks won the third singles match as Nolan Mulebrock won, and Ryan McMahon of East Grand Forks won the fourth singles match to get a 2-2 split.
DOUBLES –
Crookston’s three doubles teams won competitive matches in all three spots and came up with big winners win they needed them. Nathan Kelly and Tatum Lubinski won a hard-fought match 6-3, 6-4. At second doubles, Grant Funk and Gunnar Groven won the closest match of the day with a 7-5 first set victory, and they held on to win the second set 6-4. The third doubles team of Elliot Bartrum and Jack Everett won the first set 6-4 and cruised to a second set victory 6-1.
