PIRATE GIRLS BASKETBALL FALLS ON THE ROAD TO ADA-BORUP-WEST

The Crookston Pirates Girls Basketball team fell on the road to the Ada-Borup-West Cougars, 53-37. 

FIRST HALF-
In the first, Ada-Borup-West started on a 16-0 run before Madilyn Bruggeman scored for the Pirates to get them on the board. Later on, Isabelle Smith had a short baseline floater that fell for the Pirates, and that cut the Cougar’s lead down to 18-4. Smith would cash in again as she had a reverse lay-up later on in the half to make it 18-6 with the Cougars still leading. Smith drained a three later in the half to make it 29-11 with the Cougars still leading. Smith continued her excellent shooting in the half as she knocked down a midrange basket to make it 29-13. Ada-Borup-West would get a late basket to make it 31-13 at halftime. 

SECOND HALF –
In the second half, The Cougars would use a 14-0 run to open up the half before Joey Nesseth scored a basket underneath while getting fouled and hit the free throw to make it 45-16. Smith hit another three later in the half to make it 49-19 with Ada-Borup-West leading. Bruggeman added a couple of baskets in the lane for Crookston to make it 49-24. Katelyn Christiansen added a straightaway three to make it 49-27. Crookston continued their run as Gunderson rebounded a missed shot and laid it in to make it 49-29 with the Cougars still on top. Later in the half, Teagen Fanfulik got a lay-up to fall for Crookston and made it 51-33. Grace Boll and Nesseth each scored late baskets to make it 51-37 as the final buzzer sounded. 

Crookston drops to 3-20 on the year and will take on Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal on Friday at home. Ada-Borup-West improves to 16-5 on the year and will take on Sacred Heart on Thursday.
