Pirate Girls Tennis Drops Two at Alexandria

The Crookston Pirates Girl’s Tennis team wrapped up with busy week with a 6-1 loss to Alexandria and a 5-2 loss to Osakis at the Alexandria Tri-Angular. 

Crookston vs Alexandria –
The Crookston Pirates ran into a tough ALexandria team and came up short 6-1. The lone win came at third doubles with Hannah Lindemoen and Audrey Harbott picking up a 7-5, 6-4 victory. Crookston lost three three-set matches. At first singles, Catherine Tiedemann lost a hard-fought three setter, Hayden Winjum lost in three sets at second singles and the second doubles team of Hannah Street and Elysa Christensen came up short in three sets. “Alex is a nice team and we had three matches go to three set tie-breakers so we could have easily won the match,” said Pirate Coach Geffre. “The girls played well against tough competition.”

Crookston vs Osakis –
Crookston had a tough match with Osakis and won two matches, taking the first doubles match with Catherine Tiedemann and Emma Borowicz winning in straight sets and the second doubles team of Hayden Winjum and Emma Osborn won their match in straight sets.  Crookston lost a three-setter at fourth singles.
“We loaded the doubles and won two of the three matches, but they were able to win all four singles matches,” said Coach Geffre. “Osakis is one of the top-ranked teams because they are very good, but I thought our girls played very well.  We need to work on competing to the end of the match and as soon as we start doing that things could start going in our favor.”
Crookston will host a triangular on Tuesday with Moorhead and Thief River Falls coming to town.
