PIRATE GIRLS TENNIS FALLS TO THIEF RIVER FALLS

The Crookston Pirate Girls Tennis team continued their toughest stretch of the regular season as they lost to the Thief River Falls Falls Prowlers 5-2 in a dual in Thief River Falls. 

The match was a lot closer than the score indicates as Thief River Falls won three of their matches in three sets.  
Thief River Falls’ win at second singles was their only straight-set victory when Avery Skaar won in straight sets.  
At third singles, Crookston’s Abby Borowicz won the first set 6-4 before losing the second 6-3.  The third set was another good battle as the Prowler’s Braylee Wienen won the set 10-7 to win the match.  
Crookston’s singles win came at fourth singles when Isabelle Smith won 6-1, 6-4 for the “easiest” Pirate victory of the day. 
In doubles, Thief River Falls won the match in three sets.  Crookston’s Kaylie Clauson and Halle Bruggeman won the first set 6-3, but the Prowlers bounced back to win the second set 6-3 and the third set 10-3 to get the win. 
Crookston’s second doubles team of Addie Fee and Emma Gunderson teams up for another impressive Pirate victory as they won 6-2, 6-4.  
Thief River Falls won the third doubles match in another back-and-forth battle.  TRF won the first set 6-3 before Crookston’s Paige Abrahamson and Jenna Seaver won the second set 6-4.  The Prowlers were too much in the third set and won 10-5.  

Crookston drops to 4-2-1 on the year and travels to East Grand Forks on Thursday.
