POLK COUNTY COMMISSIONERS PREPARE THE 2019 BUDGET

The Polk County Commissioners held a shorter than normal meeting Tuesday as they prepare to complete the budget for their December 11 budget meetings. County Administrator Chuck Whiting urged residents with questions about the County Budget or their Property Tax Statement to attend the meeting. “The budget meeting December 11 is at 6:00 p.m. and open to the public to ask questions about the budget and property tax statements on valuations,” said Whiting. “Staff will be available to answer questions, provide a short summary of the 2019 budget and levy.” The budget and levy will go for final approval the week after the public budget meeting on December 18.
During Tuesday’s short meeting the commissions renewed four temporary clerk positions in the Recorder’s Office. The temporary clerk positions will be hired to work 29 hours a week. The City of Fosston requested approval to engage in a safe route to school project and the board approved their request.
The next Polk County Commissioner meeting is scheduled for December 11 at 1:00 p.m. to handle regular county business. The budget hearing will be held later that day at 6:00 p.m.
