It was a wonderful and delicious Wednesday evening at the Polk County Fair, as they held the annual Chocolate Contest on the Hanson Memorial Free Stage.
There were many amazing desserts entered in the contest, and prizes were awarded to the top three winners in the adult and youth classes.
First place in the adult class went to Erin Green with her Dark Chocolate Mocha Cake. Second place was awarded to Cheri Hasbrouck and her Chocolate Fudge Raspberry Brownies, and third place was given to Teressa Wilde for her Vivaldi’s Chocolate Chiffon Cake.
In the youth class, first place was awarded to Ella Capistran, who made Pretzel Caramel Brownie Bars. Second place went to Beth Capistran for her Softbaked Peanut Butter Chocolate Swirl Cookies, and third place went to Paul Klawitter for his Death by Chocolate Cake.
The contest organizers thanked everyone who submitted recipes and participated in Wednesday’s event. The Polk County Fair continues through Sunday, July 12, at the Polk County Fairgrounds in Fertile.
