On Tuesday, October 13, at approximately 10:00 p.m., the Polk County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-vehicle crash with injuries near the intersection of County Road 21 and 270th Ave SW.
A 2000 International 9200 with a dump bed loaded with sugar beets was westbound on County Road 21, being driven by 71-year-old Carl Soldner of Burnsville, MN. Soldner was struck from behind by a Ford Econoline package delivery truck being driven by 24-year-old Alex Sebekow of Grand Forks, ND.
The delivery truck went underneath the bed of the beet truck, pinning Sebekow inside. Crookston Fire Department responded to the scene and extricated Sebekow from the vehicle.
Sebekow was transported by ambulance to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks with serious, non-life- threatening injuries. Soldner was uninjured in the crash.
Both drivers were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor. Both trucks had to be towed from the scene.
Assisting agencies included the Minnesota State Patrol, Crookston Fire Department, Crookston Area Ambulance, and North Valley Health Center EMS.
The crash is under investigation, and no further information will be released at this time.
