Rebecca Demerais – OBIT

Rebecca Anne Demarais, age 47, passed away on September 4, 2026, in a work-related accident.

Rebecca was born on July 6, 1979 in Crookston, MN. She grew up in Plummer, MN and graduated as valedictorian from Plummer High School in 1997. She received an Associate in Applied Science degree in Culinary Arts from the Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Mendota Heights, MN and spent over 20 years working at New French Bakery in Minneapolis, MN.

Rebecca embraced life’s simple joys, cooking, fishing, and building with Legos, and found happiness in everyday moments. She will be remembered for a smile that could light up a room, her generosity, her compassion, and her rare gift for connecting with everyone she met.

Rebecca will be missed by her surviving family: her loving mother, Karen (Dwight) Hanson; siblings, Shannon (Jonathan) Fleischer, Amie Treitline, Rachel Paulson, Joel (Marielle) Demarais, Ryan (Ashley) Demarais, and Megan (Heath) Wentworth; nieces and nephews, Mason (Hallie), Mads, Allison, Isaac, Gabriel, Evangeline, Seamus, Samuel, William, Adaline, and Henry; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Rebecca is preceded in death by her father, Keith Demarais, brother-in-law, Troy Paulson, grandparents, Lewie and Vivian Demarais, Margaret and Earl Proulx, Uncle Lewie (Sonny) Demarais, Eugene Solheim; and cousins, Dean Solheim, Angie Hanson-Darling, Joshua Yarborough, Scott Proulx, and Joshua Proulx.

A memorial service honoring Rebecca’s life will be held at The Cathedral of The Immaculate Conception in Crookston, Minnesota on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. Visitation with family will be one-hour prior to the service, starting at 9:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials would be prefered.
