RED LAKE COUNTY SHERIFF REPORTS A BUSY WEEK

Red Lake County Sheriff’s Mitch Bernstein released information about the calls they have responded to over the last week.  The information is below – 
On the evening of 02/18/21, Rebecca Lea Morris (54) of Oklee, was cited for misdemeanor no valid driver’s license while operating a motor vehicle in the city of Oklee.
On the morning of 02/19/21, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a snowmobile crash in Gervais Township. A Red Lake County deputy responded to the scene to provide assistance. The driver of the snowmobile sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital by a private vehicle. The involved snowmobile was severely damaged.
On the afternoon of 02/19/21, Donavan George Coleman (29) of Houston, TX was cited for speeding on County Road #1 east of Plummer.
On the afternoon of 02/19/21, a Red Lake County deputy conducted a traffic stop on CR. #22 east of Oklee. The driver of the vehicle, Samuel Paul Scott (31) of Fertile had a revoked driver’s license. It also appeared that Scott was under the influence of an illegal controlled substance. Another Red Lake County deputy arrived on the scene to assist. When Scott was informed that he was being placed under arrest, he resisted and had to be restrained by the deputies. He was taken to the jail in Crookston and was booked for several crimes including gross misdemeanor DUI test refusal, gross misdemeanor possession of illegal controlled substances, misdemeanor driving after revocation, misdemeanor no current motor vehicle insurance, misdemeanor DUI, and misdemeanor obstructing. He appeared in Court in Crookston 02/22/21. The Court ordered him to pay $750 cash bond to be released from the jail. At the time of this release, he is still in custody. He will appear in Court in Red Lake Falls on 03/03/21.
On the afternoon of 02/20/21, Lyle Ricky Thompson (44) of Clearbrook was cited for speeding on Highway #222 in the city of Oklee.
On the evening of 02/20/21, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a domestic disturbance at an apartment in Oklee. Red Lake County deputies responded and found that Shawn Anthony Schaefer (30) of Oklee was extremely intoxicated and he had assaulted a juvenile female.  Shaefer was arrested and taken to jail in Crookston. He was booked for misdemeanor domestic assault. He appeared in Court in Crookston on 02/22/21, and he was released with conditions including not having contact with the victim. His next court appearance was scheduled for 03/03/21.
On the evening of 02/20/21, an Oklee resident reported some vandalism to their property. It was discovered the vandalism was perpetrated by a young juvenile neighbor. No property damage had occurred so the child and their parent were counseled.
On the afternoon of 02/21/21, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a disturbance at an apartment in Red Lake Falls. A Red Lake County deputy responded and found that no crimes had been committed. The involved parties were counseled and were separated without incident.
On the evening of 02/23/21, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a careless/reckless driver in the city of Plummer. The suspect vehicle was located in Plummer and the driver, Hunter Perry James Lundeen (20) of Trail was cited for misdemeanor careless driving.
On the morning of 02/25/21, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of 2nd Ave. and Main St. in Oklee. Law Enforcement responded and found that Rodney Keven Grove (66) of Red Lake Falls was eastbound on 2nd Ave. and Gilbert Eugene Thomas (51) of Oklee was northbound on Main St. Grove was driving a 2012 Chevy Impala and Thomas was driving a 2005 Chevy Equinox. Grove stopped at the stop sign, then proceeded through the intersection, but he didn’t see the Thomas vehicle and they collided in the intersection. Both vehicles sustained substantial damage, but nobody was injured. Mr. Grove was cited for petty misdemeanor failure to yield the right of way at a stop sign and Mr. Thomas was cited for misdemeanor no current motor vehicle insurance.
