RED LAKE FALLS SOFTBALL HOLDS ON TO BEAT SACRED HEART

The Red Lake Falls Eagle Softball team took an 8-0 lead and held on for an 8-3 victory over the Sacred Heart Eagles in a Section 8A Softball tournament third-round game in Red Lake Falls.

FIRST INNING
The first two Sacred Heart batters were retired before Jillian Pulkrabek singled. The next batter was retired.
Red Lake Falls’ Shandi Nelson led off the inning with a bunt single, Layna Schindler walked, and Ava Seeger singled to score a run. Kali Knutson reached on a fielder’s choice, and Kylie Klipping singled. A run scored on a fielder’s choice.  After an out, Kloe Knaack singled to score a run. Miley Cota followed with another single to score a run for a 4-0 lead.

SECOND INNING
Sacred Heart’s Lexi Lawrence led off with a walk before the next three batters were retired.
Red Lake Falls’ Nelson singled and later scored on a fielder’s choice for a 5-0 lead.

THIRD INNING
Sacred Heart was retired in 1-2-3 fashion. Red Lake Falls added another run in the third inning when Knaack doubled and scored on an error for a 6-0 lead. 

FOURTH INNING
Sacred Heart’s Lily Mueller reached on an error with one out, but the next two batters were retired.
Red Lake Falls was retired in 1-2-3 fashion. 

FIFTH INNING
The first two batters were retired for Sacred Heart before Samara Zimprich singled. The next batter flew out to right field.
Red Lake Falls added more runs in the fifth inning. Klipping reached on a fielder’s choice, Kayla Schafer reached on an error that allowed a run to score. Cota singled to score another run for an 8-0 lead.

SIXTH INNING
Sacred Heart finally got on the board in the sixth inning when Jillian Pulkrabek reached on a fielder’s choice.  Mueller reached on an error and Lawrence reached on a fielder’s choice. Avery Holthaus singled to score two runs and another run scored on a stolen base to bring Sacred Heart within a 8-3 deficit.
Red Lake Falls was retired in 1-2-3 fashion.

SEVENTH INNING
Sacred Heart was retired in 1-2-3 fashion, and Red Lake Falls won the game 8-3.

Red Lake Falls improves to 19-3 on the year and will take on Badger/Greenbush-Middle River at 4:00 PM on Tuesday in Red Lake Falls. The winner will advance to the championship. Sacred Heart dropped to 13-9 on the year and played Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal in a loser-out game.
