RiverView Health says Giving Hearts Day brought out the community’s generosity once again

Once again, Giving Hearts Day brought out the community’s generosity in support of RiverView Health. Thanks to generous donors giving to the RiverView Foundation, the Feb. 13 event brought in 293 gifts totaling $179,477 to enhance care at RiverView. “I am grateful and humbled by the hundreds of donations given not only on Giving Hearts Day but throughout the year, that benefit patients, the services we offer, and the importance of keeping quality healthcare close to home,’’ shared Foundation Director Randy Schoenborn.

“Giving Hearts Day is about investing in our local hospital to keep it strong and vibrant for today and tomorrow.’’ Undesignated funds will be used to assist in the cost of replacing RiverView’s Intravenous (IV) Infusion System, which was purchased in 2015 and is utilized by the Inpatient Unit, Emergency Department, Surgical and Anesthesia Services, and Outpatient Nursing Infusions and Procedures.

Participating in Giving Hearts Day since its 2008 start, the Foundation has raised over $2.6 million through the online fundraiser for nonprofits. The overall record-breaking tally for the 619 charities participating on Thursday was more than $31 million from 40,210 donors. According to the Dakota Medical Foundation, Giving Hearts Day has become one of the country’s longest-running and most successful giving days, providing a platform for North Dakota and northwest Minnesota charities to raise over $225 million.
