Ruth M. Goltz – Obit

Ruth M. Goltz, 98, Ada, MN, passed away on Wednesday, March 31, 2021, at Mission Court Assisted Living in Ada, with family by her side and under the care of Hospice.

Ruth Margaret Jensen was born March 8, 1923, at Waupaca, Wisconsin to Rasmus and Louise (Behm) Jensen. She moved with her family from Wisconsin to a farm in Wismer Township in Marshall County South Dakota in 1925. She attended rural schools and graduated from high school in Britton, SD. She attended secretarial school in Fargo, ND. She worked for a time in Britton prior to moving to Los Angeles, California where she worked as a bookkeeper for a number of businesses. She married Harold Goltz, September 30, 1972.

Harold and Ruth lived in Ada, MN after their marriage and Ruth worked in the Goltz Floral shop for a number of years prior to her retirement in 1978. Ruth was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and was active in the GLCW and quilting. She was an avid gardener and worked in her gardens and mowed her lawn until she was 94 years old. She enjoyed sharing divisions of her many garden plants with anyone who wanted them. Her goal was to be able to drive down almost any street in Ada and see the plants she had shared with friends and neighbors.

Ruth is survived by four step-sons, Keith (Carol), Willow, AK, Warren (Colleen), Ada, MN, Steven (Linda), Sacramento, CA, and Kendall (Rebecca), Hendrum, MN; ten grandchildren,  Jon (Else), Anchorage, AK, Sara Thomas (Steve), Anchorage, AK, Amy Goltz (Matthew), Portland, OR, Christopher (Renae), Glyndon, MN, Emily Peterson (Kurt), Warren, MN, Andrew, Seattle, WA, Kirsten Hurd (Brian), Sacramento, CA, Nathan (Emily), Minneapolis, MN, Caleb (Erin), Minneapolis, MN, and Seth, Fergus Falls, MN; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Her husband Harold; parents, Rasmus and Louise Jensen; and brother, Leslie preceded her in death.

Funeral Service: 2:00 PM, Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at Grace Lutheran Church, Ada, MN, following all of the Minnesota and CDC COVID-19 social distancing guidelines. All must wear a mask to attend.

Visitation: One hour before the funeral at the church.

Interment: Ada Municipal Cemetery, Ada, MN.
