Sandra “Sandy” Marie Waxvik – Obit

Sandra “Sandy” Marie Waxvik, formerly of Crookston and Pengilly, MN, and more recently wherever her husband parked the RV, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 4, 2022.

Sandy was born to parents Dale and Harriet (Nicholson) Torrance in Grand Forks, ND on September 15, 1957. Sandy grew up the youngest of three children in East Grand Forks, MN. She graduated from East Grand Forks Senior High in 1975. Sandy married Robert Waxvik in September of 1976 and was later blessed with her three boys. She graduated from the University of MN – Crookston with a Bachelor’s degree in Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Management in 2002. She was proud of the work she did as a Dietary Manager at Cornerstone Villa and retired in 2017.

After Sandy retired, she and Robert decided to full-time RV in order to explore all the beautiful sites in this country. She was a master navigator and great at finding picture-perfect campgrounds. Sites needed to be secluded, on the water, and near wildlife. They so enjoyed these past 4 years adventuring together. She was most proud of her family, raising her three boys and getting her girls later, Annie and Stacia, and the grandbabies, oh the grandbabies. She enjoyed cooking and preparing meals, especially for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. She liked teaching the kids to make lefse, fishing with or without bait as to not interrupt her book, Crow Wing River canoe trips, playing cards, and fragrant flowers. Her favorite days were the ones when her whole family was together.

Sandy is survived by her husband, Robert; children, Mark (Annie), Scott (Stacia), and David; brother, Billie; and grandchildren, Jazzelle, Dessa, Aria, Zachary, Cole, Silas and Asher.

Sandy is preceded in death by her parents, in-laws; Warren and Jeanett Waxvik, and brother and sister-in-law, Bryan and Amy Torrance.

We will come together to remember Sandy on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at the Moondance site located at 7050 Turtle Lake Township 46, Walker, MN 56484. Follow the signs that read Waxvik. We will gather at 1 pm and the service will be at 2 pm with Pastor David Smith from Hope Lutheran Church. As Sandy is donating her hair for the last time, we ask that in lieu of flowers, any memorials please be donated to Children With Hair Loss in her memory at https://childrenwithhairloss.us/donate/monetary-donation/.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Grandstrand Funeral Homes in Lindstrom, MN. Condolences can be left at grandstrandfh.com.
