STEPHEN-ARGYLE VOLLEYBALL DEFEATS WARREN-A-O IN THREE

The Stephen-Argyle Storm Volleyball team defeated Warren-Alvarado-Oslo 3-0 (25-22, 25-17, 25-11) in a Section 8A matchup played in Stephen.

FIRST SET
Warren-Alvarado-Olso started the match on a 4-1 run, including a Reegan Mortimer kill and a Tatiana Wright ace. Stephen-Argyle tied it up at 8-8 with kills from Regan Swanson, Isabelle Westman, and Ayla Woinarowicz. It was tied at 12. 13, and 15 before Warren-Alvarado-Olso went on a 4-0 run with three straight blocks from Danielle Michalski. Stephen Argyle won the next four points off of Emily Marquis and Westman kills. The set was tied at 20-20 before Stephen-Argyle scored two points off of Charlotte Rogus aces. Two points later, Britni Kroll got a kill to put it at 24-21 and the Storm won the set 25-22.

SECOND SET
Warren-Alvarado-Oslo started the second set on another run, this time 6-1, with kills from Ava Oberg, Erin Michalski, and Reegan Mortimer. Stephen-Argyle fought back to tie it at 8, 9, and 10 before they won three straight points to make it 13-10. Two points later, Stephen-Argyle began a 7-0 run off of strong serving from Liv Efta, including two aces. With the Ponies trailing 23-13 Eva Langen got a kill to jump-start a 3-0 run before the Storm’s Marquis got a kill to bring it to set point. The Ponies’ Mortimer got a kill to keep the set alive before The Storm’s Westman won the set with a kill 25-17. After the set, the Storm’s Regan Swanson was given a ball after recording her 1000th assist, which she got in the previous match.

THIRD SET
Stephen-Argyle began the third set with a 3-1 run featuring an ace from Swanson and a kill from Charlotte Rogus. At 4-3, Stephen-Argyle began a 5-0 run that saw the Storm get five straight kills. WAO’s Danielle Michalski got a kill to end the run before Stephen-Argyle went on a 4-0 run, which included a Kroll kill and a Westman ace. The Ponies ended the run on a Tatiana Wright kill. Kroll responded with a kill before Wright got another kill. At 14-7, Stephen-Argyle began a 5-0 run featuring a Marquis block and kill. Marquis got an ace to make it 23-9, and Westman got a kill to bring it to match point. Danielle Michalski got a kill to keep Warren-Alvarado-Oslo alive before Stephen-Argyle won the match on the next point for a 25-9 victory to win the match 3-0.

Stephen-Argyle improves to 11-5 and hosts Northern Freeze on Thursday. Warren-Alvarado-Olso falls to 2-10 and hosts Red Lake County Central on Thursday.
