The City of Grand Forks released the information below regarding the Thursday morning gas line that was struck at 2806 Airport Dr. in Grand Forks during site excavation.
At approximately 9:00 AM on Thursday, June 19th, the Grand Forks Fire Department was dispatched to 2806 Airport Dr, for a gas line that was struck. Grand Forks fire crews arrived on scene to find Airport Fire personnel evacuating the buildings adjacent to the leak. GFFD fire crews assisted with continuing evacuation, gas monitoring, and suppression activities.
The 1” gas line was struck due to excavation outside of the structure at 2806 Airport Dr. Xcel Energy arrived on scene and quickly stopped the leak. Fire crews monitored the affected buildings, with no gas present. Airport operations were able to return to normal.
The Grand Forks Fire Department responded with three engines and one command vehicle with ten personnel. There were no injuries to the public or fire service personnel. The Fire Department was assisted by Altru Ambulance, UND Police Department, Xcel Energy, and the Grand Forks Airport Fire-Rescue.
