Two students from Cathedral School in Crookston will be competing in the Catholic Daughters of the Americas National Education Contest in July after winning the Minnesota state competition.
Penelope Smith won first place in Division 1 Essay, and Mara Biermaier won first place in Division 1 Art. Smith and Biermaier were fifth-graders at Cathedral School during the recent school year. They were sponsored for the competition by Court St. Cecilia Catholic Daughters Court #2025 from Red Lake Falls.
The theme for this year’s contest was The Least of These” -Matthew 25:40.
National judges will review the winners from each state and award first, second, and third place cash prizes. The winners will be announced by the CDA in August.
